World U20: French eliminated in eighth by Americans

The France team was eliminated in the round of 16 at the Under-20 World Cup after losing to the United States (3-2) on Tuesday in Bydgoszcz (Poland).

This is a big disappointment for the players of Bernard Diomede, unbeaten in the group stage and who led 2-1 until the 74th minute.

The French conceded the opening goal on a goal of Sebastian Soto (25th) before equalizing thanks to Lyon's Amine Gouiri (41st), then take the advantage in the second period by Nabil Alioui (55th).

But Timothy Weah's teammates rallied to the mark thanks to a new goal from Soto (74th) before Justin Rennicks scored the goal of the qualification (83rd).

The Americans, already quarter-finalists of the previous edition, will be opposed Saturday (5:30 pm) to Ecuadorians, Uruguayan losers in 8th (3-1).
