The Confederation of African Football (CAF) met on 4 June 2019 in Paris, in the presence of the President of the International Federation (FIFA), Gianni Infantino. Ahmad, the boss of African football, has addressed, without going into details, the many accusations against him and the CAF.

" Dirty clothes do not wash in public! The President of the African Football Confederation (CAF) is addressing all its members, this June 4, 2019 in Paris, on the sidelines of a Congress of the International Federation of Football (FIFA). But the beginning of his speech is aimed especially at those who, internally or through the press, have criticized and even accused him of abuse of power, sexual harassment and financial mismanagement in recent months. " These two years at the head of the CAF have not been easy, " sighs the one who was elected in March 2017, instead of the Cameroonian Issa Hayatou.

The Malagasy particularly denounces an " administration taken hostage by a few individuals ". He points this time to the behavior of the former Secretary General of CAF, Amr Fahmy, dismissed. The Egyptian reportedly forwarded a case against him to the FIFA Ethics Committee.

" These are destabilizing actions "

Guest at the podium, the president of the Nigerian Football Federation (Fénifoot), Djibrilla Hima Hamidou, flies to the rescue of the one he helped to become the boss of African football. " Everyone knows what's going on , loose the one called 'Pelé'. These are destabilizing actions. [...] If there are problems, they can be settled within the framework of the statutes and internal regulations ".

Behind the Nigerian, the former president of the Liberia Federation stretches his arms and stretches his legs. The Liberian Musa Bility shows his relaxation even if he is clearly targeted. A member of the CAF (Executive Committee) government, he is one of those who openly attacked Ahmad and his decisions. " It's not just about President Ahmad and his image ," says Fenifoot boss. This is the image of CAF and through CAF the image of our continent ! "

The support of Gianni Infantino

Gianni Infantino, the FIFA President, then takes the floor. He comes to thank the CAF for supporting him in his reelection on June 5 in Paris, at the head of world football. Switzerland is also showing its support, in return. " I believe in Africa and you have to be proud of Africa ," he says. At FIFA, we went through storms but now we are back in the sun. At the CAF, at the moment, I also know what is happening, that there is turbulence. I urge you, at this difficult moment, always to keep the cool, the solidarity, the unity, the respect, to try to find solutions and not problems ".

He concludes, about the upcoming African Cup of Nations in Egypt: " The CAN is a party and must remain a party; the feast of joy, passion, heart. This holiday must not be tarnished by conflict. "
