“I think that in the near future we will arrange for them to receive a passport, which they took from him ... Not a new passport, but one that was illegally seized from him during the arrest,” UNIAN said the words of lawyer Saakashvili.

He clarified that his client had crossed the border on an official certificate issued by the Consulate of Ukraine in Warsaw.

Chernolutsky also said that those responsible for depriving Saakashvili of citizenship should incur criminal penalties.

In this case, the lawyer made it possible for the former governor of the Odessa region to obtain a post under the new Ukrainian government.

“Such positions as the prime minister, any other minister or the prosecutor general are real,” said Chernolutsky.

Earlier it became known that Saakashvili flew to Kiev from Warsaw, where he was deported in February 2018 in connection with the deprivation of Ukrainian citizenship by the former leader of the country, Petro Poroshenko.
