A female employee of the Bank of Khartoum said she was beaten with her two colleagues and their phones were broken by elements who said she was wearing the uniforms of the rapid support forces led by the deputy chairman of the transitional military council, Mohamed Hamdan Hamidati.

The bank explained that the elements stopped them and accused them of calling for a sit-in protest and cause confusion, and took away their phones and destroyed, and the barges offered phones and they are indecent.

Sudan has been witnessing a general strike in which two professional sectors have been involved since yesterday, in order to pressure the transitional military junta to hand over power to civilians. The consortium of professionals on its Facebook page said the banks of Khartoum, Sudan and a number of financial institutions had participated in the strike.

All the branches of the Central Bank of Sudan in all the states of Sudan have been closed since yesterday in response to the strike.
