Simona Halep (3rd), the defending champion, was somewhat complicated when she entered the competition at Roland Garros, qualifying for the second round on Tuesday by dropping a set against Australia's Ajla Tomljanovic (47). -2, 3-6, 6-1.
The Romanian has finally remained in the tone of the day where other headliners, like World No.1 Naomi Osaka, have spent more time than expected on the court. After a game well started, Simona Halep was released in the second set, leaving the Australian back in a game that seemed yet safe. But then she got back into the match, and folded the 3rd set 6-1.
She will meet in the next round the Polish Magda Linette (87th).
