Amazon.com's former wife, Jeff Bezos, pledged Tuesday half of her wealth to charity, following an initiative by billionaires Warren Buffett, Bill and Melinda Gates.
Bezos, whose former husband is the richest man in the world, was among 19 people who signed the "pledge of tender," a campaign announced by Buffett and Gates in 2010. The initiative calls on the rich to donate more than half of their wealth, whether alive or in their will.
"In addition to the assets that life has loved me, I have a lot of money to donate," McKinsey Bezos said in a statement. "My pursuit of good will always depend on thinking. It will take time, effort and care. "
