Under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Dhafra Region, Chairman of the UAE Red Crescent Authority, the Commission inaugurated a number of development projects in Sudan as part of its initiatives in the Year of Tolerance and to enhance the efforts of the UAE to rehabilitate infrastructure and support development in Sudan .

The projects that were opened included the provision of water resources in the state of Kassala in eastern Sudan, within the project of Sakaya Emirates through the drilling of 10 artesian wells and the establishment of water distribution stations in the areas that suffer scarce in this vital source.

In the field of health, the delegation of the Red Crescent, which is currently visiting Sudan, has begun to carry out a number of humanitarian tasks, two new dialysis units, one in Khartoum state and the other in Al-Hosh city in the central state of Al-Jazira.

The delegation also supervised the distribution of the Ramadan Merry to the beneficiaries in Sudan, and the organization of fasting meals in a number of areas.

The Secretary-General of the Red Crescent Authority, Mohammed Ateeq Al-Falahi, said that the projects of Sudan have been completed following the follow-up by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, pointing out his keenness to adopt development and reconstruction projects, especially those related to improving the lives of needy groups and segments.

"The provision of water resources in areas facing challenges in this regard is one of the pilot projects adopted by the Authority to alleviate the suffering of people and local people who have difficulties in obtaining clean water, which is the lifeblood. They need it. "

"The opening of these vital projects coincides with the Year of Tolerance, which embodies the universality of the message that the UAE adopts for the happiness of humankind, alleviating the suffering of humanity, and confirms the wise leadership's direction.

"We have worked during the past period to intensify our humanitarian and development programs, as part of an integrated strategy aimed at adopting projects that achieve sustainability in the tender and meet the goals of human and social development through supporting vital sectors, especially health, education and water services," he said.

The opening ceremony of these projects was attended by a number of officials in Sudan and the people who expressed their thanks and appreciation to the UAE and its wise leadership for their steadfastness with their situation, stressing the importance of the efforts of the UAE Red Crescent Authority on the Sudanese arena.
