The first seed held her place: Kazakhstan's Yulia Putintseva won the WTA tournament in Nuremberg, Germany on Saturday, following a 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 win over Slovenian Tamara Zidansek .

Thanks to her victory against the 68th player in the world, the N.39 bagged the first WTA title of her career, at 24 years old.

Putintseva scored his first convincing result on clay this season and at the same time took his revenge on Zidansek, who eliminated him from the start of the tournament in Rabat at the end of April.

The Kazakhe will now turn to Roland Garros, where they will face Sweden's Rebecca Peterson (N.64) to start the second Grand Slam tournament on the calendar.

Tamara Zidansek will challenge the Belgian Elise Mertens (20th).
