His disappearance, on May 8th, had given rise to a great surge of solidarity, with more than 70,000 dollars raised, having notably made it possible to launch research by air.

A 35-year-old woman from Hawaii, who has been on a hike and has been missing for more than a fortnight, was found alive at the bottom of a ravine in the American archipelago, after a massive show of solidarity that helped locate her.

"At the bottom of a deep ravine"

"Amanda Eller is LIVING !!!!" said a message posted Friday by the Facebook page dedicated to research. "Amanda was found, she was lost and stuck and slightly injured in the forest (...) Between two waterfalls, at the bottom of a deep ravine in the bed of a stream". A photo posted on Facebook shows the two ankles of the young woman covered with bruises. The 30-year-old yoga teacher and physiotherapist in Haiku, Maui, in the center of this Pacific archipelago, was eventually spotted by a helicopter and evacuated to a hospital.

His disappearance, on May 8th, had given rise to a great surge of solidarity, with more than 70,000 dollars raised, having notably made it possible to launch research by air. Amanda Eller's companion was the last to see the young woman before reporting her disappearance to the authorities. The police found their white car on a parking lot near a hiking trail. "The Maui Police Department is grateful to the family, the community and the partner agencies for all their efforts," local authorities wrote on their Facebook page.

"We knew she could hold"

"It's just as strong as we predicted, we knew it could last as long," said his family on the Facebook page, followed by more than 20,000 people. Appearing smiling on a photo released by her family after finding her, the young woman lost about 7 pounds but is in good health, told CNN one of the men gone looking for him, Javier Cantellops.
