BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Iraq's parliamentary coalition leader Hadi al-Amri and former Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki condemned the military escalation in the region between America and Iran, saying Iraq would be one of the biggest losers if the war broke out.

Amiri, leader of the Badr Organization, a popular grassroots faction, denounced what he described as "American arrogance" and military escalation in the region.

He said in a speech during a conference in Baghdad, that the American forces to leave the Gulf region and return to the logic of reason and resolve the crisis dialogue rather than threatening language.

He called on the government and parliament in Iraq to do everything in their power to prevent the war, through communication with the minds of the region, he said.

He added that the outbreak of war means that Iraq will be the biggest loser and that there would be no benefit to the so-called policy of self-distancing.

For his part, warned the leader of the coalition of state law in the Iraqi parliament, Nuri al-Maliki that the region faces great challenges, and must work to calm and remove the language of escalation and waving of force between the United States and Iran.

Maliki said during a meeting with Iraqi Parliament Speaker Mohamed Halboussi that "the region faces great challenges, and must work to calm, and to remove the language of escalation and waving of force."

He expressed the hope that Iraq's efforts to end tensions between Washington and Tehran would succeed.

The remarks came hours before the arrival of Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammed
Jawad Zarif to Baghdad on an official visit to discuss the repercussions of the crisis between Washington and Tehran.

On Friday, thousands of Iraqis demonstrated in Baghdad, Basra and Karbala demanding the withdrawal of Iraq from the current crisis between Iran and America, and the demonstrations came at the invitation of the Sadrist movement.

About a week ago, three of Iraq's most prominent Shiite leaders warned against the consequences of the US-Iranian escalation on the security and stability of their country.

The leader of the Sadrist movement Moqtada al-Sadr called for not fueling the war between Iran and the United States and Iraq's involvement in it.

The head of the National Wisdom Movement, Ammar al-Hakim, said that the recent American-Iranian escalation is causing concern in all countries in the region and threatens its security.

For his part, warned the leader of the movement of Asaib Ahl al-Haq Qais al-Khazali, describing what some tried to mix the papers in order to find justification for war and damage to the political situation, economic and security in Iraq.

Al-Khazali said that the war does not serve Iran and America, but rather an Israeli interest.
