Alexander Zverev arrives at Roland-Garros in full confidence after his victory on Saturday on clay in Geneva, having saved two match points before Chilean Nicolas Jarry before winning 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 ( 10/8).

Zverev, 5th world player at the age of 22, raised in Geneva the 11th trophy of his career in 17 finals, including the Masters 1000 in Rome (2017) and Madrid (2018). In search of success since his triumph at the Masters in London in November 2018, the year of his four titles, he has found the way to victory at the best time.

"It was a very difficult game, he was playing aggressively, serving well and hitting hard in his balls, I controlled the game until the rain came in, and I'm finally happy to have managed to win. ", rejoiced the young German.

But that the road was long and difficult ... As in the semifinals where he had to fight three sets and 2h40 against the Argentinian Federico Delbonis (84th), it also took him three rounds to tame Jarry, who had eliminated in the first round in Barcelona.

In a meeting disturbed by the rain, a first interruption came after the first set 6-3 and 0-1 in favor of the young German. After an hour and a half of waiting, the game resumed and it is Jarry, 23 years old and always in search of a first trophy, who took the top to equalize at a round everywhere, despite a new and long interruption.

The game was then balanced and it took a tight tie-break to decide, Zverev passing a passing backhand to take the lead at 8/8 before concluding his 4th match point after 2 pm and 36 minutes of combat.

At Roland Garros, Zverev will be opposed to the first round to the Australian John Millman.
