The locusts appeared on the southern border of Egypt, the Aswan provincial authorities said.

The governor of Aswan Ahmed Ibrahim, Agriculture and Locust Control and Abu Simbel Mayor, ordered the intensification of the resistance activities by deploying the locust control teams in the western region Which is adjacent to the Aswan - Abu Simbel al-Bari road, as well as the eastern and southern area to the east of the High Dam Lake.

According to the statement, the director of the locust base in Aswan Ahmed Ismail said that immediately after the presence of groups of locust swarms in the area of ​​Kilo 16 in the city of Abu Simbel was immediately starting control teams and conduct a comprehensive survey of all crops in the city was identified areas where the swarms of desert locusts and Africans coming from Sudan, Pointing out that it was on Friday evening, to start the work of control and resistance spraying pesticides required through the engines and equipment dedicated to it, and in parallel the control teams will go to the eastern region to carry out the resistance as required.

Ismail added that the control teams are starting from the main locust base in Aswan city, in addition to 11 other locust bases in Abu Simbel, Al-Aali, Jarf Hussein, Wadi Abadi, Al-Baramiya, Abraq, Hamata, Marsa Alam, Sheikh Shazli, Abu Ramad and Shalatin.
Ismail pointed out that the reason for the emergence of locust swarms is due to the fact that the breeding season begins during the summer from May to September, and control teams take the necessary action to resist in the case of monitoring any gatherings.

He pointed out that the work of locust control is done during the evening period as the period where the locust settles, and stops to fly to implement the spraying, and eliminate it to the fullest.
