The Board of Trustees of the Arab Governmental Excellence Award held its first meeting in Cairo. The Council selected the Minister of Cabinet and Future Affairs, Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi as its Chairman.
The Arab Organization for Administrative Development of the League of Arab States launched, in cooperation with the Government of the UAE, the first Arab Governmental Excellence Award in the Arab world to be the largest Arab in the field of development, improvement and administrative excellence in the Arab region under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and attended by Secretary General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit.
The Board of Trustees of the Award includes the Chairman of the Executive Council of the Arab Organization for Administrative Development, the Minister of Civil Service in Saudi Arabia, the Vice-President of the Council, Sulaiman Al-Hamdan and the membership of the Minister of State for Happiness and Quality of Life, the Director General of the Office of the Prime Minister, Dr. Nasser Al-Qahtani, Director General of the Federal Authority for Human Resources, the Council's Rapporteur, Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Awar, and the Assistant Director General for Performance and Government Excellence in the Office of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers in the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs and the Future. The Board of Trustees oversees the award and approves the proposals made by the award management team regarding the overall framework, governance, implementation and marketing of the award, as well as the approval of the results submitted by the jury and any other organizational aspects related to the award. Al-Gergawi confirmed that the first meeting of the award, which was held at the headquarters of the League of Arab States in Cairo, approved the main categories of the award, in addition to the most important criteria related to these categories.
He added that the first meeting of the Board of Trustees discussed the governance of the Excellence Award, its administrative structure, the organizational structure of the arbitration and evaluation committees, and the technical committees within the award.
"The partnership between the government of the UAE and the Arab Organization for Administrative Development will be an important platform for spreading the culture of government excellence in the Arab world and consolidating the concepts of performance and follow-up systems and strategic planning in the culture of government work," he said.
The first meeting of the Board of Trustees reviewed the Arab Government Excellence Award and discussed the mechanism of coordination with Arab countries on the award. He also discussed the date of announcing the results of the first round of the award, expected to be in April 2020, In these categories.
The categories of the Arab Government Excellence Award are divided into two main categories: individuals, institutions and 15 sub-categories.
The individual awards include: the best Arab minister, the best Arab governor, the best general manager of an Arab institution or institution, the best Arab municipal director, the best Arab government employee and the best Arab government employee.
The award categories are divided into a president and a branch, with the main prizes being the best Arab ministry and the best Arab government body or institution. The sub-awards include the best governmental development initiative or experience, the best Arab government project to empower young people, , The best Arab government project to develop the health sector, the best Arab government project to develop infrastructure, the best government project for community development, and the best Arab intelligent government application.
The criteria of the main categories of the Award include three axes, to serve as an integrated government system, which represent the basic pillars of leadership based on the best international practices in the field of government work, to motivate government agencies in the Arab world to adopt excellence and the continuous pursuit of learning and development to achieve their objectives and government objectives. Community happiness and quality of life, with a special focus on results and effective performance.
Within the framework of the Corporate Awards, the best Arab Ministry seeks to honor the distinguished Ministry at the level of the Arab countries. The best category or institution of the Arab government includes governmental bodies and institutions and the like.
The "Best Government Initiative or Development Experience" award recognizes the initiative or government experience that is jointly designed, developed and applied by a government agency and is one of the functions, scope and competence of the government body and has positive effects on the performance of the government, state or community. The category includes the best Arab government project to empower young people with projects, initiatives and programs aimed at enhancing the role of youth through the development of young skills and abilities.
The category of the best Arab government project for the development of education includes projects or programs in the field of education promotion, the ability to achieve transformation and integration, and reflect the emerging innovations in the development of education.
The award of the best Arab government project for the development of the health sector is aimed at honoring outstanding projects or programs in the field of strengthening health and medical services provided by government agencies to citizens and making significant contributions to improving public health and medical services.
The category of the best Arab government project for the development of infrastructure includes projects in the field of transport infrastructure and facilities, so that these projects have a design that brings long-term economic benefits and contributes to economic growth.
The Award for the Best Arab Government Project for Community Development honors projects that contribute to the development of society through the creation of solutions to meet challenges in the local community.
Within the framework of the individual awards, the best Arab Minister was awarded to honor the best minister in the Arab world. The evaluation criteria include the achievements and impressive results achieved during his tenure in the ministry and the extent to which they relate to the national achievements of his country.
The category of the best Arab wallets is dedicated to honoring the best Arab portfolios, including all jobs in the state apparatus in the wallets, and the equivalent in the provinces or states (not including names such as the governor of the central bank, the governor of an institution or the like). The award of the best municipal manager in the Arab cities, and includes all the functions in the government apparatus to the degree of municipal director, or equivalent in the Arab cities.

Evaluation Mechanisms
The Board of Trustees of the Arab Governmental Excellence Award addressed the evaluation mechanisms for the various categories of the award, which include the administration of the award to prepare the evaluation table and the selection of residents. The presentation of the award, as well as the evaluation, electronically, is not allowed to participate to government bodies from the UAE to ensure impartiality. Nominations from the governments of the Arab countries, with a maximum of three applications for each category of Arab governments.
