He stressed that US President Donald Trump warned the Iranian regime of "serious consequences" if Tehran carried out hostile actions.

The UAE Foreign Ministry confirmed that four civilian commercial cargo ships of several nationalities were exposed Sunday morning to sabotage operations near the state's territorial waters in the Gulf of Oman, towards the east coast near the emirate of Fujairah and near the territorial waters and in the UAE's economic waters.

Trump, the day before yesterday, issued a warning to Iran, saying it would be a serious mistake to make any move against the United States, which deployed an aircraft carrier and other fighter in the Persian Gulf.

The ministry said in a statement that "Iraq condemns and strongly condemns the acts of sabotage in the territorial waters of the United Arab Emirates."

The statement added: "We affirm our solidarity with the brothers in the UAE in the face of challenges, and to address all attempts to destabilize its security, stability and the safety of its citizens."
