This was stated after the talks by the Assistant to the President of Russia, Yuri Ushakov, who attended the meeting.

“The question was also raised about holding a possible contact between the President of Russia and the President of the United States, particularly during the June G20 summit in Japan,” he said.

According to him, the Russian side noted that, as always, it is open to such contacts and will expect from the American side the specification of the proposal.

“Naturally, when we get specifics, we will respond in the most positive way,” Ushakov said.

He also noted that the Russian leader did not convey a personal message to Trump through Pompeo.

The talks between Putin and Pompeo began earlier in Sochi.
