He stressed that "the American people are friends with the Russian people." Pompeo noted that countries respect each other’s history and culture.
“We want our relations to improve in order for us to work together in order to improve the trajectory of these relations,” he noted.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov described the frank and helpful negotiations with Pompeo.
