In Austria, a country led for a year and a half by a coalition between the conservatives of the ÖVP and the far-right party FPÖ, the polls put the conservative party in the lead and the FPÖ, in third place for the European elections. But the two partners must compete in this campaign for the European, which could benefit the Social Democrats, currently 2nd. Reportage.

A very right campaign for the FPÖ. The leader of the far-right party, Heinz-Christian Strache, is openly demanding the thesis of the great replacement, according to which white European populations would eventually be replaced by immigrants of color and predominantly Muslim.

" We have been elected to put an end to this harmful trend, because citizens say, and rightly so, that they are not happy with this situation and that they already feel like strangers in many parts of the country, " he declared.

With this speech, the FPÖ seeks to stand out from its partner, the conservative party of Chancellor Sebastian Kurz and hopes to attract the right-wing voters. The Chancellor who is also trying to seduce the voters of the FPÖ, with a more critical speech on the European Union, demanding including the withdrawal of 1,000 European regulations deemed unnecessary.

" We want the European Union to focus on the big issues and let states and regions decide for the smallest issues, " says Sebastian Kurz.

This positioning of the two government parties could perhaps benefit the Social Democrats, currently in second place. This is the belief of Andreas Schieder, head of the party list: " We are talking about what concerns people everyday, that is to say the need for a more social and more democratic Europe. "
