Audi, the German automaker, has announced plans to link its new models with traffic lights in the southern German city of Ingolstadt.

The information sharing service allows drivers to improve their speed to reach the next green traffic signal at the right time with maximum speed, allowing you to catch up with as many green signals as possible.

The service has already been available for two years in cities such as Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Washington. In the US capital, around 1,000 traffic lights are connected.

According to the company, the preparation of the service in Germany was more difficult because of the decentralization of traffic signal infrastructure.

In the long term, it is expected that the service will help drive urban traffic and make driving more efficient.

Audi plans to launch the service in other European cities by 2020.
