“The message of peace for the residents of Donbass, who have been under artillery fire for five years, is the hope that everything will stop after the inauguration of the elected president. This is a very good signal that peace may come to the territory of the (self-proclaimed. - RT ) Lugansk and Donetsk republics. With regard to the Crimea, there is also hope that the blockade of the peninsula will be lifted and Ukraine will begin normal good-neighborly relations with one of the subjects of Russia. In each action of the elected president, you can find positive moments for the future alignment of communication. The restoration of all the agreements terminated under Poroshenko is the second part of the dialogue, which will be after the inauguration. If Vladimir Zelensky succeeds in becoming a pro-Ukrainian president, then it’s not for nothing that residents of the country voted for him, ”the deputy explained.

He also stressed the importance of the fact that the President-elect seeks to build a dialogue with church representatives.

“All conflict situations, especially religious ones, are heavily tolerated by civil society. Zelensky now needs to very carefully return the Ukrainian church to the state in which it was before, abandon the tomos and restore the status quo of Metropolitan Onuphrius. And then what every Orthodox resident of Ukraine - the united church - is dreaming about today, ”Vodolatsky concluded.

Earlier, Zelensky published a video on his Facebook page in which hierarchs of various religious denominations address the message of peace to the inhabitants of Crimea and Donbass.

The video was made by the head of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox church, Metropolitan Onufry, the head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church Svyatoslav Shevchuk, the spiritual leaders of Muslims of Ukraine, and representatives of the Council of Rabbis of Ukraine.
