Relatives of Cédric de Pierrepont, killed during the release of hostages in Burkina Faso, opened an online kitty for the officer's mother.

An online kitty was launched for the family of Cédric de Pierrepont, the soldier killed during the operation of release of hostages held in Burkina Faso, reports France Bleu Armorique.

Entitled "For the family of our friend", the pool opened on the site lepotcommun.fr has raised more than 8,500 euros Sunday afternoon thanks to the contributions of more than 250 people. "We decided to organize a kitty in memory of our dear Cédric, 'DPP' for the friends, the hero who made the ultimate sacrifice, gave his life to save others ...", can we read in the description.

The money collected will be donated to the military's mother. "Even if it does not bring him back unfortunately, it's a way to participate and accompany him in this insurmountable twist of fate."

Death by releasing hostages

Cédric de Pierrepont, 33, belonged to the prestigious Hubert commando. He participated in the night of Thursday to Friday the release of four hostages, including two French, kidnapped in Burkina Faso on May 1. He was killed during the operation and Alain Bertoncello, 27 years old. The two hostages have returned to France and a tribute will be given to the two naval officers at the Invalides Tuesday.
