In Burkina Faso, the two former French hostages and South Korea released on Friday during an operation in the north of the country, were received by President Roch Marc Christian Kaboré, the morning of Saturday, May 11. Dressed in a black t-shirt, both French and South Korean were accompanied by the French ambassador to Burkina Faso and members of the delegation from Paris to take them back to France. The interview with President Roch Marc Christian Kaboré lasted about twenty minutes.

The ex-American hostage was not part of the delegation. According to the Burkinabè Minister of Foreign Affairs, she was taken in charge by the American authorities present in Ouagadougou.

Compassion and relief

The Burkinabe head of state first expressed his compassion, following the deaths of the two French commandos during the operation, and said his relief for the release of the hostages .

According to Alpha Barry, head of Burkinabè diplomacy, Roch Marc Christian Kaboré expressed his solidarity with the French people and noted the importance of military cooperation between the two countries. " The success of this operation is proof that this cooperation is working ," said Alpha Barry.

The Burkinabè authorities have also indicated that fifteen Burkinabè soldiers, members of the special forces, took part in the operation that led to the release of the hostages, in addition to intelligence support.

After the meeting with the president of Burkina Faso, the ex-hostages were taken to the airport to embark for Paris where they are expected in the late afternoon this Saturday.
