In Venezuela, self-proclaimed President Juan Guaido tried to re-mobilize the population this Saturday, May 11, calling on them to free themselves from fear. He himself under arrest warrant appeared surrounded by deputies who are also subject to intense pressure from the government. Venezuelans were invited to gather around the country. After the failed military uprising last week and the violent crackdown that followed, the protesters were far fewer than the past weeks. Reportage.

Under the shade of a tree in a square in Caracas, Mirta Gueris stands tall with her friends. All are in their sixties. All say they will continue to fight to the end.

" We've been regrouping for 20 years since Chavez came to power, ever since they stole power. But it's going to change, it's the hope we have. It takes time, now we realize that it's not easy. But it will change because the Venezuelans are made to live in freedom. We can not bear inhuman treatment , "she says.

In this small square in Caracas, no more than 2,000 come to support the one they recognize as their president. To encourage the protesters to continue the fight, Joao Martis offers sunflowers on the fly. However, he wears a t-shirt with the colors of his homeland of origin: Portugal.

" I offer some of the flowers that I grow to make people feel joy and courage," says Joao. The country of someone is not where he is born, but where he lives. It's been 40 years that I live here, I have my children and my grandchildren here. This country gave me everything. That's why I feel it's my duty to fight for him alongside the Venezuelan people. "

From a platform, Juan Guaido said that discussions continued with the various actors of the Venezuelan conflict in the hope of a solution through dialogue. However, he said he had asked his representative in the United States to approach the US military to build direct cooperation.
