The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent a letter to the European Broadcasting Union, calling on it to withdraw any promotional materials for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019, which was filmed in the occupied city of Jerusalem.

The Palestinian foreign ministry demanded in a statement Saturday not to allow the Israeli occupation to exploit the global event to consolidate its colonization and to hide practices of racial discrimination "in respect of the rights of the Palestinian people and the rules of international law."

She explained that she sent her message to the European Broadcasting Union, "because of its ability to influence the world public opinion," and noted that this step was follow-up to previous messages addressed to him in this regard.

She pointed out that Israel's dissemination of promotional material to cancel the existence of the State of Palestine from the map used as a logo for the competition, without a clear and clear position of the Federation of Radio, constitutes implicit recognition by the "Eurovision" of Israel's illegal policies.

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry said that "the insistence of the European Broadcasting Union to continue to broadcast promotional materials to Israel, the occupying power in this year's competition despite the official pressure, the public and the international, puts the Union under the responsibility of direct collusion in forging the identity of the Holy City and its national history."

The Eurovision competition is expected to be held in Israel from 14 to 18 May, a radio competition organized by the European Broadcasting Union since 1956. It is the largest non-sport event in terms of viewership, estimated at between one hundred and six hundred million people around The world in recent years.
