Beijing has decided to place an order with the aircraft manufacturer Airbus. The mega-contract is worth 30 billion euros, said the Elysee. On the occasion of the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping, the signatures of some thirty agreements were expected for the amount of several billion euros in other areas such as agri-food, energy and culture.

Huge contract with Airbus

Airbus and China Aviation Supplies Holding Company (CASC), a state-owned company, signed an agreement Monday to acquire 290 A320 family aircraft and ten A350s. The contract was signed in the presence of the French and Chinese presidents, on the occasion of the arrival in France of Xi Jinping . The contract amount is estimated at over $ 30 billion. A much larger contract than the pre-agreement announced more than a year ago, covering 184 Airbus A320s.

Economic agreements: France wants "respect for mutual interests"

French President Emmanuel Macron announced Monday that France and China will cooperate on a list of concrete investment projects in the countries crossed by the mega Chinese project of infrastructure of the new silk roads, which concerns some European countries.

lifting the embargo on French poultry

It had been in force since December 2015, when bird flu had affected farms in France. Since then, no French poultry meat has been sold in China. On Monday, the signing of an agreement between the Ministry of Agriculture and the General Administration of Customs of China lifts the embargo on exports of legs, heads and wings of frozen French chickens to China. In 2015, France had exported 3,570 tons of poultry meat for a turnover of 7 million euros, according to FranceAgriMer.

Other announced agreements

EDF concluded on Monday with China Energy Investment Corporation (CEIC) an agreement on an offshore wind farm project in China for about one billion euros. This agreement covers phases 4 and 5 of the Dongtai Wind Power Project

BNP Paribas, Eurazeo PE and ChinaInvestment Corporation (CIC) have signed a memorandum of understanding for the creation of a Franco-Chinese cooperation fund, the target amount of which is one billion euros. This bilateral investment fund must support the development of French companies in China.

Schneider Electric and Power Construction Corporation (PCC) have signed a strategic cooperation agreement of nearly € 6 billion for the industrial upgrading of PCC plants in China and third countries.

CMA-CGM and China State Shipbulding Corporation have signed a global cooperation framework agreement and a construction contract for 10 new vessels with a capacity of 15,000 twenty-foot equivalent containers (TEUs), the estimated value of which is 1, 2 billion euros.

Macron talks about human rights

French President Emmanuel Macron said he shared with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping the " concerns " of France and Europe about respect for human rights in China. " We had frank exchanges on this subject ," said the French president, adding that he had discussed " several individual cases ".
