The lawyer recalled that the 19th month of Vinnik’s stay in a Greek prison without trial is underway. At the same time, the Greek Constitution sets a limit of 18 months, when a person can be held in custody without charge.

“It is absolutely inhuman, unfair and unconstitutional to keep him in prison more than the established limit without extradition. It is absolutely inhuman to make him wait for so many months without an answer. It is unacceptable to allow him to go on a hunger strike for three months, to lose up to 57 kg, while he weighed 80 kg, and never give him an answer. Alexander Vinnik may die. And if he dies, it will be a shame for the Greek government and the justice system, ”said Constantopoulou.

According to her, Vinnik “begs” to extradite him to Russia, where his two children and wife live, whom he has not seen for a year and a half.

Earlier it was reported that Vinnik was transferred to a specialized hospital.

Winnick was arrested in July 2017 at the request of the United States, who accused him of money laundering through the cryptocurrency exchange. His extradition is also sought by Russia and France.
