Two Russian military planes arrived this weekend in Caracas, with 99 military and 35 tons of equipment on board.

After the landing of the two Russian military aircraft at the Caracas International Airport, neither the government of Nicolas Maduro nor the Russian Embassy in Venezuela made any statements. No information has been circulated on the reason of the presence of Russian servicemen on Venezuelan soil. No more details on the nature of the 35 tons of material delivered by Moscow to his Chavist allies. The Russian agency Sputnik only ensures that these flights are " nothing mysterious " but that they were carried out " within the framework of technical and military cooperation " between the two countries.

Nicolas Maduro denounced this weekend a project of assassination

Last December, Moscow and Caracas announced the relaunch of this cooperation in order to strengthen Venezuela's defense capabilities against possible attacks. Two Russian bombers TU-160, capable of carrying nuclear weapons, had then participated in joint military exercises in Venezuela.

This weekend, just an hour before the arrival of the two Russian military planes, Nicolas Maduro had accused the opposition of preparing a plan for the murder. Charge immediately dismissed by self-proclaimed interim President Juan Guaido, who denounced a new diversion attempt from the regime in place.
