Kim Jong-un has shown considerable interest in North Korea's Chairman of the State Council, who sent a letter to President Moon Jae-in, hoping to meet in Seoul next year and the regret of his death in Seoul.

The CNN reported, "Kim sent a rare proclamation to Moon," he said. "He expressed his will to meet again next year and discuss the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula."

The Wall Street Journal also said, "The two-page letter from Kim Jong Il means that North Korea's denuclearization talks have stalled and US-led sanctions against North Korea have been maintained."

The WSJ says it is expected to help resume the stalled North Korean nuclear negotiations with Kim Jong Il, as promised, by the fourth summit with South Korea.

NBC, Fox News and the Associated Press reported that Kim's correspondent was ahead of New Year's.

Fox News said, "The North Korean leader has traditionally delivered his New Year's speech to announce the main policy decisions and goals, but this was a few days earlier."

Kim Jong-il, chairman of the US-led coalition, said he will meet with South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun and South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun.

NBC reported that Kim Jong Il's statement and President Moon's remarks were "a promise to the North and South leaders to send warm texts ahead of the New Year and strive for peace and prosperity in 2019."

The US media, however, also pointed out that there must be concrete progress beyond the normal declarative implications of the denuclearization of North Korea.

CNN said, "While Kim (Chairman) promised to resolve the denuclearization issue in a letter to President Moon while the year 2018 is going down, there are still some visible measures to show North Korea has actually stopped developing nuclear weapons." .
