During the interview, Pompeo was asked what message he would send to Maduro now.
“Start the plane,” replied Pompeo.
When asked what would happen if Maduro did not do this, Pompeo said: "Then the price for him and those who protect him will rise."
Earlier, Pompeo said that Maduro was ready to leave Venezuela and fly to Cuba.
On April 30, Venezuela’s opposition leader Juan Guaiido announced the start of the final phase of Operation Freedom. Later in Caracas, demonstrators protesting against government action staged clashes with members of the Venezuelan National Guard.
