It is noted that during this period more than 21 million children remained vaccinated against measles every year, which caused outbreaks of the measles epidemic in various countries of the world.

“The foundation for the global measles outbreaks we are witnessing today was laid several years ago. The measles virus will always find unvaccinated children. If we are serious about preventing the spread of this dangerous, but preventable disease, every child should be vaccinated in both rich and poor countries, ”said UNICEF Executive Director Henrietta Faure.

UNICEF indicated that over the first three months of 2019, over 110,000 cases of measles were reported worldwide, which is almost 300% higher than the same period last year.

Earlier, the Public Health Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine reported that almost 42 thousand people in the country have had measles since the beginning of the year.

On April 8, the TV channel “360”, citing Rospotrebnadzor, said that Russians can get a measles vaccine free of charge before October 1. Vaccination can be given in any medical organization at the place of residence.
