Turkish intelligence chief Hakan Vidan discussed in Washington with the director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and members of the US Senate the case of the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

The Turkish sources said the conversation between the senators and the director of Turkish intelligence focused on aspects of Khashoggi's assassination of the Saudi consulate in Istanbul at the request of some US lawmakers.

According to sources of the island, Fidan met during his visit to Washington, CIA Director Gina Haspel.

The behind-the-scenes meeting comes as CIA officials seek to brief a new group of congressional deputies on their findings about the crime next week, while senators hope to take measures to respond to Riyadh.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Wednesday that 435 deputies would be briefed, like senators before them, on the situation in Yemen.

Six members of the US Senate presented a draft resolution that holds the Saudi crown prince responsible for contributing to the Yemeni crisis, the siege of Qatar, imprisonment of political opponents, the use of force to terrorize opponents and the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

The Senate announced the move in a statement issued late on Wednesday evening. Among the six signatories to the new draft is prominent Republican Senator Lindsey Graham.

"The draft stipulates that the Saudi Crown Prince is responsible for the killing of Khashoggi, and that it is a destructive force for the region, and that it jeopardizes US national security interests on several levels," Graham said.

Senator Ed Mirki said the Saudi crown prince was not a reformer, a role he was trying to demonstrate.
