The Turkish Foreign Ministry denied reports by some media about the possibility of canceling the agreement with Sudan on the island of Swakin.

The spokesman for the ministry, the protector of Aksoy that the news contained in the media about the possibility of canceling the agreement between Turkey and Sudan on Sudan's Swak island does not reflect the reality.

He confirmed that the Turkish Agency for Cooperation and Coordination (Tikka) is working on the restoration of the Ottoman ruins on the island.

The media earlier reported allegations of possible cancellation of the agreement on the island of Swakin, signed by Turkey and Sudan in 2017.

On the sidelines of his visit to Sudan in December 2017, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan pledged to rebuild Swakin.

The island lies on the west coast of the Red Sea in eastern Sudan.
