An octogenarian died buried in a landslide that destroyed his home, Thursday in Lozere, because of strong thunderstorms.

An 81-year-old woman died Thursday, buried in a landslide that destroyed her home, following heavy storms that hit Lozere in the afternoon, firefighters reported.

Her husband unscathed

The victim died shortly before 3:00 pm at his home in Villefort, and firefighters specializing in the clearing, were working an hour later to try to clear the rubble. Her husband, also octogenarian, is shocked but unscathed, said relief.

Météo-France had announced a "rainy front" all over France on Thursday and placed the Loire, Haute-Loire, Rhone and Isere in "orange vigilance" in the wind until 16h.
