The United Nations praised the efforts of the UAE and its leading role in demining and improvised explosive devices planted by the Iranian Houthi militia in the province of Hodeidah on the western coast of Yemen.

The Director of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in the Yemeni capital Aden Aden Andrea Reykjia, during his meeting with the Director of Humanitarian Operations in Yemen Saeed Al Kaabi, praised the efforts of the UAE in relief of the Yemeni people in the province of Hodeidah and its leading role in the clearance of mines and improvised explosive devices planted by the Houthis, Liberated areas in the western coast of Yemen, which contributed to the preservation of civilian life.

The international official praised the UAE's humanitarian initiatives in Yemen, which affirms its keenness on the future of the Yemeni people and the protection of their children in line with the United Nations plans in Yemen and providing a good life for the residents of the liberated areas by addressing the urgent needs of those affected and affected by mines and improvised explosive devices planted by the Houthis Of the innocent victims.

Al-Kaabi met with the delegation of the UN Office headed by Rekia, together with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Cluster Risk Officer Stephen Robinson and Civil and Military Coordination Officer Moataz Banafeh.

Al-Kaabi reviewed the achievements of the UAE in Yemen through its humanitarian arm, the Red Crescent Authority, during the first half of 2018, along with its humanitarian, development and service projects in the liberated areas.

Al-Kaabi referred to the emergency relief plans which aim at providing food and shelter for the displaced, in addition to the electricity, water, health care and education projects implemented by the Red Crescent Authority, including the various Yemeni cities and administrations, as well as means of enhancing efforts and coordination between the two sides.

Al-Kaabi affirmed that the UAE places the safety of the Yemeni people as a top priority in Yemen and provides all forms of immediate support to the Yemeni families most in need to help them overcome the difficult circumstances of the events in Yemen in compliance with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region, Chairman of the UAE Red Crescent Authority. Development and service projects, to alleviate the suffering of Yemeni brothers, and enhance their abilities to face the difficult conditions they are going through.

Al-Kaabi said that a plan has been developed in cooperation with the United Nations Office in Aden for the clearance of mines and improvised explosive devices from liberated areas in the province of Hodeidah in the framework of the continuous support provided by the UAE to the Yemeni brothers, and keen to save them from the dangers of improvised explosive devices and alleviate their suffering and stand by them in light of The difficult circumstances they face, and to reduce the impact of Houthi violations against them.

In this regard, the two sides stressed the necessity of providing statistics on the number of mines and improvised explosive devices planted by the Houthis in all Yemeni regions, in addition to the number of casualties caused by those mines, their types and areas targeted by the engineering teams involved in their removal.
