Sudanese President Omar Hassan Ahmed al-Bashir on Thursday issued a decree appointing the first pillar of Awad Mohammed Ahmed bin Auf as first deputy president and defense minister, according to a presidential statement.

The appointment came under a presidential decree issued by the Sudanese president after he announced, yesterday evening, the state of emergency in the country for one year, and the dissolution of the government of national reconciliation.

Ben Ouf replaces former vice president Bakri Hassan Saleh, while retaining his post as defense minister.

Bashir kept defense ministers Awad Awad bin Auf, Foreign Minister Dardiri Mohammed Ahmed and Justice Mohamed Ahmed Salem.
