Diplomats also stressed that the decision to acquire Russian citizenship residents of Donbass will take, based on their own desires.

On April 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree according to which residents of certain regions of Donbass can apply for Russian citizenship under a simplified scheme.

Subsequently, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that the President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, choked with indignation at the publication of the decree.
