His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, President of the University of Sharjah, yesterday launched the 13th Annual Scientific Research Forum organized by the University of Sharjah under the theme "The Effectiveness of Interdisciplinary Research in Achieving Sustainable Development" At the College of Medical Colleges and Health Sciences at the University.

His Highness the President of the University of Sharjah inaugurated the scientific exhibition accompanying the forum, where he inspected the exhibition and listened to an explanation about the research projects presented by undergraduate and postgraduate students, which will contribute to the service and raise the society. On the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the forum, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and the University of Sharjah, signed by Undersecretary Eng. Hasan Al Mansouri and the University Director Dr. Hamid Majoul Al Nuaimi.

The MOU concerns research and development for two specialized projects that support adaptation to climate change, contributing to the development of infrastructure projects with the best specifications and adaptation to climate change, and to effective partnerships between government institutions and scientific institutions.

The Director of the University of Sharjah said that this year's forum is working to meet the requirements of its logo on how to achieve sustainable development through interdisciplinary scientific research in the fields of engineering, renewable energies, medicine, biotechnology, pharmacy, public health, humanities, business administration and the environment. For his part, Vice-Rector for Scientific Research and Graduate Studies, Dr. Muammar Altayeb, stressed that the University of Sharjah places the importance of the forum in focusing on scientific research and its sustainability, in view of the great development and increase in the number of new knowledge, sciences and professions that universities should put in their strategies and priorities.
