The Foreign Ministry opposed the linking aid to Syria with political considerations
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Vershinin said that assistance to Syria should be provided regardless of political considerations. This informs RIA Novosti.
“The principal difference between our position is that assistance, assistance in creating conditions for the reception of refugees, in the restoration of Syria, should be rendered outside political considerations,” he said.
According to him, Moscow is opposed to the provision of assistance to the SAR linked to political considerations.
He also said that the Russian side expressed its disappointment that representatives of the Syrian government had not been invited to the conference in Brussels.
Vershinin also said that a meeting on Syria at the level of deputy ministers is planned for April in Astana.
“While in the preliminary plan we are planning to hold the next high-level meeting on Syria in Astana in April, we will agree on specific dates later,” he stressed.
Earlier it became known that the United States will allocate $ 397 million for humanitarian aid to Syria.
