“In my opinion, this nomination was quite expected. The fact is that re-election to the presidency means for Petro Poroshenko the opportunity not only to preserve his political subjectivity, but also security. Moreover, not only physical, but also the assets that he acquired over the past four years as president, ”the expert believes.

According to him, it is clear that Poroshenko is not currently a favorite in the presidential race and he is facing a rather intense election campaign.

“He needs to go to the second round and try to consolidate Ukrainian society around him, which, as we see, is extremely dissatisfied with his success during his presidency,” Danyuk concluded.

The expert noted that Poroshenko has financial and media resources and support for a certain part of the Ukrainian oligarchy, but "he has extremely low ratings among the people."

Earlier, Poroshenko put forward his candidacy for the presidency of the country.

According to him, he intends to become the head of the country in order to be sure that Ukraine will take the European and Euro-Atlantic path of development.
