According to the ministry, returning in the afternoon by car after completing the task of organizing the delivery of humanitarian aid to one of the settlements in Deir ez-Zor, the military were ambushed by a group of militants and after the ensuing battle were missing.

From the moment this information was received, continuous round-the-clock work was carried out to search for and locate military personnel, informed the Defense Ministry.

“As a result of a complex of special events, the militants who attacked the car were installed, and the fact of the death of three Russian servicemen during the battle at the end of February was confirmed,” RIA Novosti reports.

A gang of more than 30 militants involved in the attack was destroyed, the bodies of the military were taken to Russia, the department said.
