Real Madrid suffered a double injury after the CT scan showed striker Karim Benzema fractured one of his fingers on Sunday, while defender Jesus Bayejo was injured by a torn back thigh muscle during training today.

Benzema suffered the injury during a 2-1 win over Real Betis and was replaced between the two halves, while Spanish media reports are likely to be out of action for about three weeks.

"The medical examination showed that he had a broken pinky finger in his right hand and was waiting for his condition to develop," Real said in a statement.

The Spanish newspaper reported that Bayejo left the training session today, crying.

The 22-year-old has played only two games this season because of a series of physical problems, the fourth injury.

Benzema and Bayejo joined the roster of stars in the Royal team, including Gareth Bell, Tony Crosse, Typo Courtois, Marcos Yurnti and Mariano Diaz.

Real Madrid, who are fourth in the Primera Liga, will face Real Madrid in the last 16 of the Copa del Rey on Wednesday, and third-placed Sevilla on Saturday.
