According to statistics from the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population and the World Health Organization, 8% of injections in Egypt are unsafe, equivalent to 23 million syringes per year, leading to 400,000 deaths per year from infections transmitted from "unsafe injection".

Al-Watan newspaper said that these statistics prompted the Egyptian government to encourage attracting Arab and foreign investments to the Egyptian market to manufacture self-destructing syringes in the framework of a national plan to eliminate the C virus in Egypt and with the spread of communicable diseases transmitted through non- Safe injection.

The use of standard "syringes," 10 centimeters or less in length from the mid-June 2020, with the use of self-destructing syringes instead of one-time syringes, is to be prevented.
