The donations collected during the 2018 Telethon amounted to 85.8 million euros, a figure that has been declining steadily in recent years.

The final amount of donations collected under the Telethon 2018 is 85.8 million euros, against more than 89 in the previous edition, said Monday the organizing association AFM-Telethon.

The record dates back to 2006. At the end of the charity marathon broadcast on public television on 7 and 8 December, the pledge counter had stopped at 69.3 million euros, against 75.6 in 2017. After the end of the show, donations, tax deductible at 66%, could still be made on the website telethon.fr. In 2016, the Telethon had raised 92.7 million euros, against 93.8 million in 2015, 92.9 in 2014 and 89.3 in 2013. The record of donations dates back to 2006, with nearly 107 million .

These funds are used to fund research on rare diseases and the development of new therapies. The 2019 Telethon will take place on December 6th and 7th.
