Three men, incarcerated since August 1, 2018 as part of an alleged narcotics trafficking in Bayeux, were to be tried in Caen this Thursday, December 6. A mistake by the court resulted in their release on November 30. They will be judged at a later date and will appear free.

Three men, aged 30, 32 and 34 years, were to be tried for drug trafficking in Bayeux between January 2014 and July 2018, Thursday, December 6 by the Criminal Court of Caen.

Arrested and placed in custody during the summer, they had been placed under arrest warrant on August 1, 2018. They had appeared before the jurisdiction of Caen on November 8. That day, the court returned the case to Thursday, December 6, while keeping them in custody pending trial.

That's when the error occurred. According to the law, the hearing date should have been set within a maximum of 4 months from their incarceration. It was not the case.

These three men were released on 30 November 2018. They will be summoned by a judicial police officer on a date not fixed. They will then appear free.
