“The challenge lies in trying to develop mechanisms to avoid an arms race due to new technologies,” Stoltenberg quoted RIA Novosti as saying.

In his opinion, at present it is necessary “to develop systems, agreements, regimes that would control these new technologies in order to try to limit and reduce the potential of the arms race.”

“So far there are no answers to this. But we need to discuss, look, because this is a completely different world in which such technologies will be used in the framework of new weapons systems, ”the NATO Secretary General added.

Earlier, Stoltenberg said that the Alliance’s measures in the event of the termination of the Treaty on the Elimination of Intermediate-Range and Shorter-Range Missiles (INF) will be “measured out”.

According to him, the alliance does not want a new arms race.
