Former Prime Minister Idrissa Seck, the four opposition presidential candidates in Senegal "strongly rejected" the interim results of winning outgoing head of state Macky Sall. However, they indicated that they would not contest these results before the Constitutional Council.

" The National Commission for the Recording of Votes (CNRV) has just published a result that perfectly reflects the order of the incumbent. We firmly and unreservedly reject this result. We will not make any appeal to the Constitutional Council , "said Idrissa Seck, who came in second with 20.50% of the vote, behind Macky Sall (58.27%), according to figures announced by the National Commission for the Census of Votes. (CNRV).

" It is clear that the incumbent has confiscated the will of the sovereign people and will be the only one to bear the consequences in front of the people and in the face of history ", added the former Prime Minister, who also spoke on behalf of of the other three opposition candidates, Ousmane Sonko, Madické Niang and Issa Sall.

Democracy is falling back in our country. I firmly believe that the results out of the polls are for alternation. There, we retreat. It can not happen like this.
