"The success of the interim period depends on the willingness and agreement of the concerned forces on a clear vision," he said, referring to a second meeting of the opposition with the military council today.

"The current stage requires the forces of freedom and change to form a mini-council that will lead the negotiations," said Mahdi, the country's most famous politician and president of the Sudan Appeal Rally.

He called on the forces of freedom and change to accelerate the formation of this council, which "will adjust our movement in terms of presenting visions to the military council, and discuss details of the composition of the structures of the transitional period," he said.

Al-Mahdi said in an interview with Reuters that Sudan could face a counter-coup if the military council and the opposition did not reach an agreement on the handover of power.

He said he would consider running for president only if elections are held, not during the transitional period.

Mehdi denied his relationship with a statement alleging his claim to assume the presidency of the transitional period, which was transmitted by means of social communication last Tuesday.

His office director, Ibrahim Ali Ibrahim, affirmed the NMA's commitment to discussing the transitional governance measures within the alliance of the forces of freedom and change, which led the revolution wisely, and hoped that the alliance would make its understandings with the utmost possible consensus on the reliable transitional arrangements in taking the country towards safety.

On Monday, the Sudanese National Umma Party announced its refusal to participate in the next transitional government, calling on the transitional military junta to hand over power to a civilian government.

The statement warned of "procrastination and delay in the transfer of power to a civilian government represented by the army, carrying the burden of political transition, which opens the way towards full democracy."

On the other hand, the military council stressed that it will retain only sovereign power, and that civilians will be prime minister and all government ministries.

"The Transitional Military Council has sovereign authority only, without the level of the presidency of the Council of Ministers and the civilian government and all the executive authority is completely civilian," said the spokesman of the Sudanese Transitional Military Council, Lieutenant General Shams Shamsuddin Kabbashi.

Kabbashi stressed that the council does not seek to govern, but is working to create conditions to complete the process of change. He added that there are many points of convergence with the forces of freedom and change.

Kabbashi also stressed that the transition period two years, may decrease and will not increase. He stressed that the Council does not overlook the components of other Sudanese society, especially women.

"The transitional council has sovereign authority only during the interim period," he said.

"We are ready now to hand over authority to the youth if they are ready," deputy head of the military council, Mohammad Hamdan Diklu, said yesterday. "We are working at our maximum capacity to secure the country's necessary needs," he added. He stressed that the deployment of rapid support forces in all the states of the country to secure citizens.

Later, the council spokesman said that the president of the council was considering the resignation of three of its members for decision.

The team's first corner was Omar Zine El Abidine El Sheikh, Lieutenant General Jalal El Din El Sheikh El Tayeb and First Police Lieutenant Tayeb Babeker Ali, who resigned from the Transitional Military Council.

This came after a meeting between the Council of 10 members and leaders of the protests, where the Council announced an agreement on most of the demands of the opposition.

The military council said that the meeting with the forces of freedom and change led to common points, and the formation of a committee to resolve the outstanding points.

Kabbashi stressed that the Council and the forces of freedom and change complement each other, noting that the meeting with the forces of freedom and change resulted in the existence of many aspects of agreement between the two sides.

For his part, described the spokesman for the forces of freedom and change meeting with the military council positively, stressing an agreement to form a committee to study the arrangements for the transition process and the powers of various organs and structures.
