Russian Foreign Ministry called for a political settlement of the crisis in Libya

"The Russian side confirmed the principle line in support of the unity, territorial integrity and sovereignty of Libya, political methods of overcoming the Libyan crisis with the assistance of the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General on Libya (Hasan. - RT ) Salame," the Russian Foreign Ministry website said.

It is noted that the initiator of the dialogue was the Libyan side.

On April 4, it became known that Marshal Khalifa Haftar ordered his army to launch an offensive against Tripoli, which is currently under the control of the Government of National Accord.

On April 23, Haftar’s troops announced the start of a second phase of the offensive on the Libyan capital.
