The opposition criticized the announcements, conceived as a global response to the crisis of "yellow vests", made by President Emmanuel Macron during the first press conference of his mandate.

In his speech, the head of state welcomed the " just claims originally " of the movement of "yellow vests" which has profoundly changed the five-year since November 17. But the first reactions of "yellow vests" to the announcements of the president are disappointing. In Ivry, "yellow vests" feel that there is " nothing concrete " among the ads.

The French president wants to facilitate the use of the referendum of shared initiative, but for the opposition, the account is not there. Gilles Platret, spokesman for the party Republicans (LR), regrets the lack of concrete measures.

Nothing is said in detail and it is perhaps this word that one would have expected on the capacity of this government and the President of the Republic to make us believe that it will go beyond the stage of words. That is, to reassure us about the feasibility of what was announced tonight. So, it's a disappointment. I think the disappointment that Republicans feel, alas, is not felt by them. I am thinking in particular of the million French people who were not found in the debates, contrary to what the president said and whom we saw well in the street, on the roundabouts. I do not see how we can find ourselves in the words that were supposed to draw the line of a way out of the crisis and that in fact only confuse things and therefore push back the necessary solution to the country.

In the opening remarks of his press conference, Emmanuel Macron chose to make ecology one of the four major themes of the rest of his quinquennium. With a short-term concrete measure: a citizen convention, of which 150 members will be drawn, will be put in place by the summer to reflect on new environmental policies. This is far from convincing David Cormand, national secretary of the party Ecology-Greens Europe (EELV) and candidate for the European election.

I found that the President of the Republic spoke a lot about him, more of him than French and French. He asked more questions than he answered. And on the ecological issue, I found that it was very evasive, to say the least. This has been presented as an important axis but evacuated in a few minutes and if I understand correctly, the only proposal that is made is to create a new citizen convention, which is very good, but I believe that today Now is the time to take action. And meetings to think about what to do about climate protection and ecology is good, but we know what to do. If its role is to reinvent solutions that are already known, perhaps it will do it well, but we are still wasting time.

The EELV spokesman regretted having to wait " 45 minutes before (hear) talk about the climate ".

45 minutes before talking about climate and ecology by saying that it is a priority without proposing concrete measures. And nothing about tax evasion to finance adequate means, if not an umpteenth evaluation? #GrandDebat
All that for this. #conferencedepresse

Manon Aubry, head of the list for the France Uninsured to Europeans party in 2019, criticized the lack of announcements on a " profound reform on democracy ".

Conclusion of this #conferencecentre: no deep reform on democracy, nothing for wages, liberal measures on the economy & the social, no ecological ambition
Macron may have heard but he did not understand anything. We will re-explain it on May 26! # Macron18h

For the president of Debout France Nicolas Dupont-Aignan, Emmanuel Macron announced only " micro-measures that are not up to the distress of the French! "

❌ No savings on waste.
❌ No real stimulus for purchasing power.
❌ No ads to boost growth and create jobs.

Ian Brossat, head of the PCF list for the Europeans played on humor to denounce the announcements of the French president.

In short: nothing for wages, no return of the ISF, a pension system by points that will lower pensions ... Macron was betting on a waou effect. In fact, it is rather the oualou effect.
