Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman al-Thani has called for accountability for the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

"What is demanded by the international community is very clear, which is to hold the culprits accountable," Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman said at a meeting on the sidelines of the fourth Mediterranean Dialogue Forum in Rome.

"From our point of view, who was responsible for the killing of Khashoggi should be held accountable, and whether President (Donald) Trump has the right conclusions, we do not know that, but what the international community demands is very clear. To take action ".

On the other hand, the Qatari Foreign Minister said that the intervention in Yemen did not achieve any of its declared objectives of restoring the legitimate government to Sanaa and eliminate the security risks of the Houthis.

The way forward would require a direct cessation of hostilities, the gathering of parties and the initiation of a political process.

Earlier this month, Qatar welcomed the United States call for a ceasefire in Yemen, calling the call an encouraging step towards a political solution.
