Qatar Petroleum said on Sunday it had signed a 10-year sales agreement to supply SCG Chemicals with 3 million metric tons of light naphtha starting this month.

Light naphtha is an oil mixture used to produce benzene and petrochemicals.

Qatar Petroleum said in a statement that the agreement was signed in favor of Qatar Petroleum Company for the sale of petroleum products and on its behalf.

Qatar Petroleum said in a statement that the long-term agreement was the first of its kind with end consumers in Thailand, away from intermediaries.

"The agreement is important for our petrochemical business, providing the security and quality of the material supplies to our facilities and will enhance the total value of the petrochemical plants," said SNC Chemicals president Chulanat Yanaranov.
